The challenge

Livestock health decisions are often made with limited information.

In rural Kyrgyzstan, limited access to modern diagnostic tools and veterinary support increases the risk of late detection, economic loss and unnecessary antibiotic use.

01

Economic risk

Livestock loss directly affects rural livelihoods

Animal deaths and reduced productivity can directly affect household income and farm resilience.

Loss of one cow ≈ $1,150
02

Limited diagnostics

Veterinary and ultrasound access is limited in rural areas

Access to livestock ultrasound is limited outside major cities, reducing opportunities for early diagnosis and reproductive monitoring in rural areas.

03

Reactive treatment

Antibiotics are often used without veterinary guidance

Fear of losing livestock, combined with limited knowledge about appropriate treatment, can lead farmers to use antibiotics without veterinary guidance.

Field insight

What farmers told us

During customer discovery interviews, farmers repeatedly described fear of losing valuable livestock, limited access to modern diagnostic tools such as livestock ultrasound, and making treatment decisions without professional veterinary guidance.

About Malsaak

Built in Kyrgyzstan for the realities of rural livestock farming.

Malsaak is a livestock health technology startup from Kyrgyzstan, built around the realities of livestock farming in mountainous and remote communities. We are developing practical solutions shaped by the needs of farmers and veterinary professionals working in the field.

Our story

It started with a question: What drives unnecessary antibiotic use in livestock?

In Kyrgyzstan, unnecessary and poorly informed antibiotic use in livestock can put animal health and food safety at risk. Malsaak began by exploring what drives these treatment decisions in rural farming communities.

Through field research and direct engagement with farmers and veterinary professionals, we identified a critical gap: rural livestock communities have limited access to modern animal health technologies, timely diagnostics and reliable animal health information.

This insight shaped Malsaak into more than a single digital tool. We began building a connected livestock health ecosystem designed to support earlier detection, better-informed treatment decisions and more responsible antibiotic use.

Our mission

Build an accessible livestock health ecosystem for better-informed care.

Our mission is to improve access to timely diagnostics and reliable animal health information for farmers and veterinary professionals in mountainous and remote communities — supporting earlier detection, better-informed treatment decisions and more responsible antibiotic use.

Team

Built by a multidisciplinary team.

Malsaak brings together expertise in veterinary medicine and livestock health, software and IoT development, AI, research, education and international project implementation.
